Austin’s notorious serial killer, Raul Meza, is reportedly facing an additional charge following the discovery of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on his mobile device, according to a source familiar with the investigation.
Currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole, Meza accepted a plea deal in 2024, admitting to the capital murder of Gloria Lofton in 2019 and the murder of his roommate Jesse Fraga in 2023. His criminal history spans decades, with numerous offenses dating back to 1975.
Meza’s record includes a conviction for the murder of eight-year-old Kendra Page in 1982. He received a 30-year sentence but was paroled in 1993 after serving just 11 years. His life continued to be marred by crime, leading to multiple arrests for parole violations over the next two decades.
In May 2023, Meza contacted the Austin Police Department and confessed to both murders, leading to his apprehension in north Austin shortly after his admission. During the investigation, he also provided information regarding a double homicide he allegedly committed in San Antonio, though authorities have since stated they could not corroborate his claims based on the timeline he provided.
While investigators have suggested that Meza could be linked to up to a dozen murders, the Austin Police Department announced last August that they would no longer pursue any cold cases related to him.
