A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Houston’s Sunnyside area, which resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to three others. The suspect has been charged with murder and multiple counts of assault.
Kendrick Williams, 41, is currently held in Harris County on charges that include one count of murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of assault against a family member. This last charge pertains to an alleged incident involving his girlfriend.
The shooting occurred early on Saturday, August 15, at approximately 2:30 a.m. at a residence on Fairland Drive, located near Reed Road and Scott Street. Authorities found a woman who had been shot in the driveway, and she was later pronounced dead. Two additional women and a man also sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital.
Reports indicate that Williams was apprehended the following Friday after the shooting. Details surrounding the incident suggest that he confronted his girlfriend after a violent argument earlier that evening, allegedly assaulting her before returning with a firearm.
Witnesses reported that the four victims were in a vehicle when Williams unexpectedly approached and opened fire. Court documents reveal that one of the individuals who was shot indicated they had seen physical signs of abuse on Williams’ girlfriend, such as bruising and swelling on her head, prior to the incident.
