The Texas A&M University Police Department has confirmed that a robbery report made on September 28 at the West Campus Garage was unfounded. After a thorough investigation, authorities determined that the incident, which involved a claim of being pepper-sprayed and robbed of a set of Corps of Cadets freshmen spurs, never took place.
Initially, campus officials issued an alert following the report, which described the alleged victim as having been attacked by an 18-year-old white male, approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. The individual received medical attention but was later released from the scene.
After conducting a follow-up investigation, police assured the campus community that there is no ongoing threat related to the reported incident.
Historically, freshmen in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets have worn “fish spurs” during specific football game weeks since the 1930s, a tradition that continues today before games against teams like Arkansas.
