Authorities in Azle have made a significant breakthrough in a tragic accident that occurred in September, resulting in the loss of two lives. Tammy Jo Lawrence, a 48-year-old resident of Springtown, Texas, voluntarily surrendered to the police on Friday after becoming aware of pending arrest warrants against her.
Lawrence now faces serious charges, including two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
The incident took place on September 23, 2025, in the 13000 block of South FM 730, near Winding Way. Reports indicate that around 12:30 p.m., a vehicle traveling northbound crossed into the southbound lanes, colliding with two other vehicles. This initial crash set off a chain reaction involving two additional vehicles.
As a result of this devastating collision, two individuals lost their lives, and two others sustained significant injuries. The accident prompted a lengthy closure of the roadway while the Azle police, alongside the Azle fire department and the Tarrant County Accident Reconstruction Team, conducted a thorough investigation.
Currently, Lawrence is being held at the Parker County Jail as the legal proceedings unfold.
