AUSTIN, Texas – The City of Austin has approved a $150,000 incentive to support the production of the upcoming Apple TV series ‘Brothers,’ featuring acclaimed actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
This financial backing is aimed at launching the 10-episode series, which will be filmed in the vibrant city of Austin. The approval marks a significant step forward for the Creative Content Incentive Program (CCIP), which is designed to attract various entertainment productions, including television, film, animation, and gaming to the area.
The city council has structured the deal to ensure that the funding is utilized to benefit local creative professionals, small businesses, and the broader community. ‘Brothers’ is projected to spend over $6.2 million on local wages, alongside an additional $9 million on goods and services sourced from the area.
It is estimated that the project will create approximately 320 jobs for cast and crew members, while also engaging local vendors, including minority-owned (MBE) and women-owned (WBE) businesses. The combined payroll and spending are expected to yield nearly $160,000 in direct and related economic benefits for the local community.
This initiative signals a promising future for Austin’s entertainment landscape, as it embraces projects that contribute to the local economy and support its creative workforce.
