The Austin Police Department is currently investigating two separate homicide cases that occurred in different areas of the city. The incidents were reported within less than an hour of each other, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Homicide in East Austin
The first incident took place around 3 a.m. when police received calls regarding a disturbance in the 1000 block of Springdale Road, accompanied by reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male inside a residence exhibiting clear signs of trauma. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities noted that a male acquaintance of the victim had left the premises prior to the officers’ arrival. While this individual is known to investigators, no further description has been provided at this time.
Homicide in South Austin
The second homicide was reported at approximately 3:51 a.m., with officers dispatched to a shooting and stabbing incident in the 200 block of Vertus Bend. Upon their arrival, they found another adult male suffering from severe injuries in the front yard of a home.
Despite the officers’ attempts to administer life-saving measures, the man was also pronounced dead at the scene. Details regarding the specific nature of his injuries have yet to be confirmed by the police. However, residents at the location are reportedly cooperating with detectives as the investigation unfolds.

At this stage, the Austin Police Department has indicated that they believe the two homicide cases are not related, and they are still working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding each death. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed.
