A wildfire covering 46 acres has sparked significant concern in Bastrop State Park, having begun late Sunday night. By Monday afternoon, the Texas A&M Forest Service reported that containment efforts had reached 75%. The fire’s rapid spread necessitated the evacuation of residents from The Pines RV camping park.
Firefighters have worked tirelessly since the blaze erupted, with officials confirming that there have been no injuries or structural damage reported. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has been actively involved in the firefighting efforts, utilizing bulldozers to patrol the perimeter of the fire throughout the night and deploying helicopters to douse the most active flames.
As firefighting crews continue their efforts, conditions are expected to pose challenges with gusty winds and low humidity anticipated later in the day. Authorities have announced the reopening of one eastbound lane of State Highway 21, along with Park Road 1B within the state park, while Park Road 1A remains closed to ensure safety.
This situation is still evolving, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
