A woman from Bedford has been sentenced to serve 25 years in prison following her conviction on human trafficking charges linked to her massage business.
The case against 47-year-old Fujun Zhu stemmed from a lengthy investigation by Bedford Police, which began in 2023. Authorities uncovered evidence of prostitution being conducted at her establishment, where it was reported that women were confined overnight.
In a disturbing account, one victim revealed that after agreeing to work at Zhu’s massage business upon its opening, she had her passport and all forms of identification confiscated. Zhu allegedly coerced her into performing sexual acts on clients.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, Bedford officials closed three of Zhu’s businesses in response to the ongoing illegal activities.
