A fraudulent website claiming to be affiliated with the upcoming Republican Party midterm convention in Dallas was taken offline on Friday after it redirected users to a Justice Department site containing files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The site, gopdallas2026.com, had been a prominent search result for those looking for information about the convention.
Initially, the website featured an image of the American Airlines Center, the venue for the convention, adorned with fireworks and a banner displaying former President Donald Trump’s likeness. However, by Friday afternoon, users began sharing on social media that the site had changed, leading them to the Epstein files. Shortly thereafter, the website was removed, displaying a message indicating it was “currently private.”
According to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, the bogus site appears to have been active since July. In contrast, the legitimate website for the Republican Party’s Dallas convention is gopconvention.com, which has been in existence for over two decades. As of now, neither the Republican National Committee nor the Republican Party of Texas has provided a comment regarding the incident.
