Dallas ISD Students Injured in Possible Hit and Run Incident en Route to School

The Dallas Independent School District (DISD) is currently investigating an incident involving two middle school students who were struck by a vehicle in what appears to be a hit-and-run while on their way to school.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Glasgow Drive and Abrams Road in Old East Dallas on Tuesday morning. Fortunately, both students are reported to be unharmed following the incident.

According to local sources, the DISD has not disclosed any details regarding the vehicle or driver involved in the incident. The intersection is notable for its proximity to several schools, raising concerns among residents about safety in the area.

Rachel Feig, a resident near the intersection, expressed her fears about the dangers posed to children crossing the street to reach school. “I am concerned that a child is going to get hurt or killed trying to cross Abrams to get to school,” she stated, reflecting the worries of many neighbors who have noticed a rise in accidents in the vicinity.

Feig has not only witnessed multiple crashes this week but has also experienced property damage due to reckless driving, with one incident resulting in a vehicle crashing into her kitchen. She, along with other community members, is advocating for measures such as protected crosswalks, the presence of crossing guards, and designated bike lanes to enhance safety.

The investigation by DISD Police is still underway, and there has been no information released regarding the identities of the students or any potential suspects related to the incident. It remains unclear whether the students were on bicycles or scooters at the time of the accident.
