A Dallas man who had been missing since mid-December was discovered deceased over the weekend in Arkansas. Hector Balderas, a 78-year-old resident of Dallas, was found on Saturday inside his van parked in a Walmart lot in Springdale.
Authorities were alerted after an individual recognized Balderas’ distinctive yellow delivery van, which had been highlighted in local news reports regarding his disappearance. While the police have noted the absence of any apparent signs of foul play, they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Balderas’ death.
Balderas went missing on December 13 while traveling back to Dallas after making deliveries in Arkansas and Oklahoma. At the time of his disappearance, he was driving a yellow 2018 Ford Transit van that bore a license plate from Tamaulipas, Mexico. His family had expressed concerns for his safety due to a pre-existing cardiac condition, prompting Texas EquuSearch to disseminate information about him on social media in an effort to locate him.
In a statement, Texas EquuSearch expressed their condolences, saying, “It is with great sadness that Hector Balderas was located deceased in Arkansas. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Balderas during this tragic time. Thank you to everyone who shared and kept a lookout for Hector and his vehicle.”
