Central Texas school districts are stepping up to provide free meals for children this summer, ensuring that kids and teens aged 18 and under have access to nutritious food during the break. The initiative, which includes some districts extending services to disabled students up to 21 years old, does not require registration or proof of age, income, or residence.
Meals are to be consumed on-site, in accordance with Texas Department of Agriculture regulations. Families seeking meal sites across the state can utilize several resources: by calling 2-1-1 to speak with an operator, accessing an interactive site locator map, or texting the words FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304.

For families across Central Texas, these summer meal programs represent a vital resource, helping to alleviate concerns about food insecurity while children are out of school.
