A series of burglaries shook several businesses in northeast Dallas early Thursday morning, as a suspect remains on the loose following a spree that involved smashing windows to steal cash and staff tips.
Surveillance footage indicates that a man used a rock to break the front glass of multiple establishments, including Mario Bros Tacos and Primos Brothers Pizza. Local authorities are actively investigating the incidents, but have yet to identify the perpetrator or confirm any connections between the break-ins.
At Mario Bros Tacos on Abrams Road, the owner, Mario Moya, reported that the suspect shattered the front door’s glass before entering the restaurant. The break-in occurred during the early hours, and Moya was alerted by his security company.
“He got away with $300 to $400 in cash from our opening till and our staff tips,” Moya stated. “The most damage was to our window and door that he broke.” This incident brought back memories of a similar burglary that took place at his business in 2023.
Minutes after the first break-in, a second robbery occurred at Primos Brothers Pizza, located at Forest Lane and Abrams Road. Surveillance footage from this establishment shows what appears to be the same suspect using a rock to gain entry, according to the owner, who chose not to be filmed. This time, the thief stole money from a tip jar, leaving the rock inside the jar afterward.
Moya mentioned that at least two other nearby businesses were also targeted around the same time. “I paid out of pocket for everything; the door, the window, the tips, the till,” he lamented. “It’s unfortunate, but there are people out there that prefer to steal than work.”
The Dallas police continue to investigate the incidents, but have not released any specific details regarding potential suspects or whether the break-ins are connected.
