A western wear shop in downtown Dallas became the center of attention after Team Norway celebrated their World Cup victory at Dallas Stadium by embracing local Texan fashion.
Following Norway’s triumph, star striker Erling Haaland made a memorable stop at Wild Bill’s Western Store, where he purchased an array of cowboy hats, exotic boots, and a distinctive longhorn belt buckle. His social media posts detailing the visit sparked a surge in sales, nearly depleting the store’s inventory of the popular “Y’all can kiss my Dallas” t-shirt and drawing in local shoppers from North Texas. The store is now eagerly awaiting a new shipment of the viral shirt, set to arrive on Thursday to restock their shelves.
After helping secure Norway’s advancement in the World Cup on Tuesday, Haaland had one more objective in Texas: to experience the cowboy lifestyle. He and several teammates dropped by Wild Bill’s Western Store in the West End, and the visit is already making waves for the store owner.
According to store owners Cody and Julie Newport, they received advance notice of Haaland’s visit and had prepared part of the shop for the special guest. Upon arrival, Haaland indulged in a shopping spree, purchasing numerous hats, swapping his cleats for cowboy boots, and exchanging his jersey for a shirt emblazoned with “Y’all can kiss my Dallas.”
“Did he know anything about cowboy hats?” a reporter asked the Newports. “No. He knew nothing,” Cody Newport replied, recalling how Haaland needed assistance in selecting the perfect hat.
The Newports noted that Haaland and his teammates were drawn to the store’s unique exotic items. The soccer star also customized a longhorn belt buckle by branding it with his initials and jersey number. “He mentioned this was literally his only opportunity to experience Dallas,” Julie Newport remembered. “He had an amazing time, and we were thrilled to share that with him.”
“We embody the warm Texas welcome and southern hospitality. Having him come in and enjoy his time here means everything,” Cody Newport added.
Haaland’s social media updates from his Wild Bill’s visit quickly gained traction, racking up millions of views and likes. The “Y’all can kiss my Dallas” shirt is nearly sold out at the store, with many of Haaland’s fans eager to grab some gear for themselves. Online sales have also seen a boost as a result of his visit.
Typically, the store attracts a customer base that is 90% tourists. However, since Haaland’s post, an increasing number of locals from North Texas are now flocking to the store.
