A tragic incident unfolded in Azle, Texas, where a father has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of his daughter during a family dispute. The event, which occurred on Father’s Day, has left the community in shock and mourning.
Authorities have identified the victim as 25-year-old Rebekah Brooks, who was allegedly shot by her father, Charles Brooks, amid a confrontation with her mother at their home. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered Charles Brooks performing CPR on Rebekah, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
Charles Brooks, 61, is currently being held at the Parker County Jail with a bond set at $2 million, facing charges of first-degree felony murder. The incident has cast a pall over the family, leaving behind a young son, a loss that deeply affects Rebekah’s friends and loved ones.
Brianna Tucker, a close friend of Rebekah, expressed her heartbreak over the situation, recalling how vibrant and welcoming Rebekah was. “She was such a happy person,” Tucker shared, emphasizing the joy Rebekah brought to those around her. The two friends often collaborated on photo shoots, strengthening their bond over shared experiences.
On June 21, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting the shooting. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel to revive Rebekah, she was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, a physical altercation had erupted between Rebekah and her mother prior to the shooting.
In his confession, Charles Brooks explained that he retrieved a handgun during the altercation, intending to separate the two women. He claimed that the firearm accidentally discharged, resulting in the tragic incident that took his daughter’s life.
