A Galveston County animal rescue organization is set to enhance its services for pets in the region following the receipt of a generous $150,000 grant. The funding, provided by PetSmart Charities, will enable S.A.V.E Rescue / Fix ur Pet to expand its outreach and treatment programs.
Since its inception in 2020, the clinic has successfully spayed and neutered an impressive 24,000 dogs and cats. With this new financial support, they aim to increase their capacity to assist even more pets. Dr. Jennifer Blakey Turner, a representative from the Fix Ur Pet clinic, expressed enthusiasm about the grant, stating, “We’re going to do a lot of things with that money, like community outreach. We’re going to be able to fix more pets.”
Located in Santa Fe, the low-cost spay and neuter clinic opens its doors to residents from neighboring counties without any barriers. In addition to surgical procedures, the clinic also provides a variety of wellness services at affordable rates.
The influx of funds is expected to significantly reduce the number of stray animals and those housed in shelters. Dr. Turner emphasized the clinic’s mission to combat the pet overpopulation crisis in Texas by offering accessible spay and neuter services, highlighting the importance of affordability for pet owners.
