A historic LGBTQ bar in Galveston narrowly avoided significant damage following a shed fire on Friday evening.
The incident occurred near Robert’s Lafitte, located at the corner of Avenue Q and 25th Street. Fortunately, the bar itself was closed at the time of the fire.
According to local authorities, the fire also affected a building situated on the south side of the shed. Galveston Battalion Chief William Roy reported that two individuals residing in an apartment behind the shed were transported to the hospital.
As of now, the medical condition of those hospitalized remains unclear. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Galveston Fire Marshal.
