A domestic altercation turned tragic late Wednesday night when a man in his 50s allegedly shot his fiancée’s daughter’s boyfriend during a confrontation in southeast Houston. The victim succumbed to his injuries at a hospital shortly after the incident, while the suspect was taken into custody at the scene and later hospitalized in stable condition for undisclosed reasons. Authorities are still determining formal charges as homicide detectives continue their investigation and interview witnesses.
Houston Police officials reported that the incident occurred around 11:10 p.m. in the 3700 block of Odin Court, following a call from a woman who reported hearing gunfire. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics discovered that a physical fight had erupted between two men outside a residence. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the chest.
Emergency responders attempted to perform CPR on the victim, a man in his 30s, before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His identity has yet to be disclosed.
According to Houston Police Lt. Pulido, the shooter is engaged to a woman whose daughter was in a relationship with the victim. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the hospital in stable condition. Police recovered the firearm used in the incident from the location.
At the time of the shooting, two women were present in the home. One woman, who witnessed the fight from outside, was detained for questioning by detectives, while the other, who was inside at the time, reported hearing the gunfire but did not see the shooting take place. The Houston Police Department is actively pursuing the ongoing homicide investigation.
