HOUSTON – A shift towards a wetter weather pattern is expected early next week as increased moisture from the Gulf of Mexico moves into the area.
As the holiday weekend comes to a close, residents will continue to experience hot temperatures and high humidity levels. Afternoon highs are forecasted to reach the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values exceeding 106 degrees. While most areas will remain dry, isolated storms may occur, bringing brief periods of heavy rain and lightning.
Looking ahead, the chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms are set to rise on Monday and Tuesday, resulting in broader rain coverage across Southeast Texas. Although these days won’t be a total washout, it is advisable to seek shelter indoors when thunder is heard.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s throughout the week, contributing to the overall warm and humid conditions.
In the tropics, the situation appears calm for the time being, with Saharan Dust helping to maintain clear skies over the tropical Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf. Current indications suggest that there will be no significant tropical development in the coming week.
