James Talarico Discusses Drake vs Kendrick Lamar on Houston Radio Show

Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico recently appeared on a Houston radio show, where he shared insights on his political campaign and offered his perspective on the ongoing rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

During his guest appearance on 93.7 The Beat with host Ashlee, Talarico was prompted to weigh in on the feud between the two hip-hop giants. He confidently remarked, “I think it’s safe to say that Kendrick got the best of that back and forth,” while also expressing his appreciation for Drake’s track “Family Matters,” which was released amidst the conflict.

In addition to his musical opinions, Talarico used the platform to discuss the challenges he faces in his Senate run, particularly the attacks from his opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. He commented on the nature of these attacks, stating, “It’s never fun to be, you know, attacked or to have people make stuff up about you, but as a candidate, to me, it means they don’t have any argument to make to the voters. They’re not speaking to the actual issues that people care about.”

Talarico also emphasized the importance of engaging with Black Texan voters, warning against the complacency often seen in national Democratic strategies. “A lot of, especially national Democrats, will just assume that Black folks are going to show up and vote for a Democratic candidate, and we’ve seen, especially over the last few cycles, that’s not true,” he asserted. He stressed that his campaign aims to connect with communities directly, listening to their concerns to better understand their needs and expectations.
