As summer draws to a close, Austinites are invited to join a celebration of literature at an upcoming event designed for book lovers. The gathering will take place at Central Machine Works on August 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., marking the conclusion of the Field Guide to Austin Summer Reading Bingo Challenge.
Participants, whether they achieved a single bingo, two, or even the coveted blackout status by completing the entire board, are encouraged to attend. Those who bring their finished bingo cards will check in at the KUT table to collect various prizes, including Field Guide stickers, bookmarks, and vouchers for Lick ice cream, available while supplies last.
For those who accomplished a blackout, there’s an added incentive: entry into a raffle for a chance to win a swag basket celebrating public media, a pair of tickets to the upcoming ATXplained Live show on October 15, or a membership to the KUTX Concert Club, which features live performances in Studio 1A.
To qualify for the raffle, participants must submit their bingo cards in person. If attendance is not feasible, individuals can reach out via email to arrange for the collection of Field Guide merchandise.
In addition to prize distribution, the evening will feature discussions about the books read over the summer, insights into upcoming reading lists, and an overall celebration of the literary community. Attendees are asked to RSVP to assist in planning for the expected turnout.
