Man Charged After Assaulting Officers at Dallas Airport

A man from California has been federally charged following an alleged attack on officers at Dallas Love Field International Airport. The incident unfolded when the individual, identified as Idress Vinay Solomon, 33, attempted to pass through security without any identification.

According to federal authorities, Solomon became agitated after being denied access to the TSA screening area due to his lack of ID. The situation escalated when he struck a TSA officer in the back of the neck as the officer sought a supervisor to assist with the matter.

As nearby Dallas Police Department officers rushed to the scene, Solomon reportedly inflicted a serious injury, breaking a bone in the face of one of the responding officers during the altercation. Following the incident, he was subdued and removed from the airport, but not before allegedly refusing to cooperate and spitting on another officer.

If convicted of the charge of forcibly assaulting a federal officer and causing bodily injury, Solomon could face a substantial prison sentence of up to 20 years. He is currently in custody while awaiting further court proceedings.

U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould emphasized the seriousness of the incident, stating, “Violent conduct perpetrated against TSA and law enforcement officers will never be tolerated in the Northern District of Texas. We will prosecute such offenses to the fullest extent to seek justice for the victims here and to deter others from resorting to aggressive attacks against officers responsible for ensuring the public’s safety while traveling.”
