A Mississippi man has been charged with capital murder following a double homicide in Travis County, Texas. The incident occurred in the Wells Branch area, where two women were discovered dead at an apartment complex on September 23.
According to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call from the apartment complex manager around 8:45 a.m. The manager noticed an apartment door slightly open and, after announcing himself and receiving no answer, he entered and found a body, prompting him to call for help.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials found two women suffering from gunshot wounds; both were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were later identified as 37-year-old Anecia Kay Thacker and 32-year-old Lamonica Webb, both residents of Austin.
Initially, the sheriff’s office was investigating the case as a potential murder-suicide. However, new evidence collected at the scene led investigators to classify it as a double homicide. Michael Robinson, 24, from Mississippi, surfaced as a person of interest in the case, with authorities indicating he was likely present during the shooting.
Robinson was apprehended on September 25 and subsequently charged with capital murder.
