A motorcyclist has been apprehended following an incident in Harker Heights where a pedestrian was severely injured. The individual is facing charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
The event transpired on IH 14 near FM 2410 around 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Authorities believe that the pedestrian had stopped on the shoulder of the road to inspect a flat tire when they were struck by the motorcyclist. The collision resulted in significant injuries to the pedestrian and caused damage to both the motorcycle and the vehicle.
Following the initial crash, the motorcyclist reportedly continued southbound on IH 14 and was later located in Killeen after crashing a second time. Emergency responders transported the suspect to a nearby hospital, where they were subsequently arrested and charged with DWI.
The injured pedestrian is currently receiving medical treatment in Temple for their injuries.
