A significant traffic incident has occurred on I-35, impacting drivers traveling from Hays County and South Austin. The crash, involving two semi-trucks, took place early this morning around 4:30 a.m. just before Slaughter Lane.
The Austin Police Department is currently investigating the situation. As of 9:37 a.m. CT, all northbound lanes in the 9900 block of south I-35 remain closed. Authorities have indicated that these lanes will remain blocked for cleanup operations, with plans to reopen them between 11 a.m. and noon.
Traffic is being redirected from the main highway to the service road at Onion Creek Parkway, which is Exit 226. Officials are advising motorists to expect significant delays and to avoid the area if possible.
