Suspect Caught on Doorbell Cameras Kicking Doors and Breaking Glass in East Dallas Burglary Attempt

A man in East Dallas is being sought by police after he was caught on doorbell cameras attempting to break into homes in the Lake Highlands neighborhood. The suspect was seen kicking a door and breaking the glass window in the early hours of Friday, October 30, causing concern among local residents.

The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m., when Jeff Jones, a resident of Lake Highlands, discovered the footage revealing the suspect’s actions. In the video, the individual can be seen ringing the doorbell multiple times while prowling around the front porch. After leaving briefly, he returned, punched the door’s glass window, breaking it and leaving behind blood on the porch. He then kicked the door several times before fleeing the scene.

Jones, who was asleep during the event, was alerted by his son, who witnessed the commotion. “It was just a traumatizing event,” Jones shared. Despite no items being stolen, he has filed a police report, and authorities are treating the case as a burglary. The incident has left Jones unsettled, particularly after living in the neighborhood for over two decades. “It’s very concerning. It makes you a little nervous that it seems it’s happening a little more often than it did 10 years ago,” he expressed.

Another homeowner in the neighborhood believes he encountered the same suspect earlier that night. After hearing knocking and banging on his door, he confronted the man, who then fled the scene. Although he called the police, officers did not arrive until 7 a.m., hours after the incident occurred.

Following the posting of the doorbell footage on social media platform Nextdoor, Jones reported receiving numerous messages from neighbors who have experienced similar incidents involving the same suspect in the past. “Once we put everything on Nextdoor, we found out all these neighbors chiming in — ‘Oh, he did this six months ago, oh same guy hit our house, he’s been doing this for years,'” he noted.

Dallas Police are actively investigating the case. While they identified a potential suspect, they confirmed that he was not the individual responsible for the recent break-in attempts. Jones remains hopeful that the distinctive facial tattoo or marking of the suspect will aid in his identification. “I just want everyone to know his face and be on the lookout. It’s a great neighborhood, so hopefully we’ll just band together and keep a lookout for each other,” he stated. In light of the incident, Jones plans to enhance security around his home by installing fencing.
