Two Garland High School Students Arrested Following Gun Photo Incident That Led to Campus Lockdown

Two students from Garland High School were arrested on October 29 after a photo surfaced on social media depicting one of them brandishing a firearm on school grounds. In response to this alarming situation, the school was placed on a safety hold, which limited movement in the hallways while allowing regular classroom activities to proceed.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., School Resource Officers at Garland High were alerted to the image circulating online. Authorities quickly located the student in the photograph and took him into custody. He faces charges related to the exhibition, use, or threat of use of a firearm. Additionally, a marijuana vape pen found on him resulted in a charge for possession of less than one gram of THC.

During the investigation, police identified a second student connected to the incident, who was also detained and charged with similar firearm-related offenses. The safety hold at Garland High School remained in effect throughout the duration of the police inquiry, ensuring that while classes continued, student movement was restricted.

The identities of the arrested students have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether law enforcement recovered the firearm shown in the photograph.

The Garland Police Department emphasized their commitment to student safety, stating, “The Garland Police Department and Garland ISD take incidents involving firearms seriously. The safety and security of students and staff remain our top priority. This type of behavior will not be tolerated.”
