Allison Hudson, the Assistant Director of Media Relations for the Dallas Police Department, has been placed on administrative leave as an investigation into her use of a police vehicle continues. This decision follows allegations that she improperly activated the lights and sirens of a department-issued vehicle, actions she is not authorized to perform as a civilian employee.
The Dallas Police Department has confirmed Hudson’s leave, stating it aligns with departmental policy and the actions typically taken by Chief Daniel Comeaux in similar situations.
The investigation is being conducted by the department’s Public Integrity Unit and stems from a complaint filed in August concerning Hudson’s conduct. Reports indicate that she is under scrutiny for allegedly impersonating a public servant, a felony offense. Sean Pease, president of the Dallas Police Association, noted that Hudson operated the vehicle in question because it was the only one available to her at the time.
Pease has raised concerns regarding the possibility of preferential treatment due to Hudson’s senior role within the department. He mentioned that he had discussions with Chief Comeaux about the issue, expressing that there were worries from the Dallas City Council regarding Hudson’s delay in being placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
In response to these concerns, Chief Comeaux expressed disappointment over the circulation of unverified allegations among department members, emphasizing that such actions could impede the ongoing criminal investigation. He affirmed that he has not influenced or directed any changes to the investigation into Hudson.
Attempts to obtain a statement from Hudson have not yielded a response as of yet.
