Dallas Hit and Run: Speeding SUV Runs Red Light, Tragically Kills Driver

A male driver lost his life early Sunday morning in a tragic incident involving a speeding SUV that ran a red light in Dallas’ Pleasant Grove neighborhood. The collision occurred at the intersection of Elam Road and South Buckner Boulevard, propelling the victim’s vehicle into a construction fence.

At approximately 1:28 a.m., officers from the Dallas Police Department responded to reports of a two-vehicle accident. Investigators have since established that a Ford SUV, traveling westbound on Elam Road at a high speed, disregarded a red light and collided with a Chevrolet Camaro heading south on South Buckner Boulevard. The impact was severe, causing the Camaro to veer off the road and crash into a fence surrounding a construction site.

The sole occupant of the Camaro, an adult male, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital by paramedics from Dallas Fire-Rescue. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of law enforcement. The Dallas Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit has taken charge of the investigation, closing the intersection for several hours to gather evidence and examine nearby surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the hit-and-run driver.

Currently, the identity of the victim has not been disclosed, pending the notification of his next of kin.
