Suspect Identified and Charged in Fatal Pierce Street Crash Involving Woman

Enrique Acevedo Barocio, a 27-year-old man, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following a tragic incident on Sunday night in South Central Houston, where he struck a woman crossing the street.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Pierce and St. Charles Streets as the woman, aged 32, was leaving a nearby bar. According to police reports, Barocio was driving a blue Ford Expedition at a high speed when he hit the woman, causing her to be carried down the road. In addition to the pedestrian, his vehicle also collided with five parked cars along the street.

Emergency responders from the Houston Fire Department arrived shortly after the crash and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Barocio exhibited signs of intoxication and was subsequently apprehended by the authorities. Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, he was charged and taken into custody at the Harris County Jail.
