Residents in the Briarwick neighborhood of southwest Houston are voicing their frustration over the lack of bulk trash and tree debris collection, which has persisted for several months. Despite numerous calls made to the city’s 3-1-1 service, the situation remains unresolved, and trash continues to accumulate.
During a recent visit to Glendridge Lane, it was evident that large piles of bulk trash were strewn along the curbs across multiple streets. Local resident Dwayne Crawford expressed his concern, stating that the issue is widespread, affecting not just one home but multiple areas within the neighborhood. “If you go down the street, you’ll find more all through the neighborhoods… the stuff just piled up… like a storm been through here… but it hasn’t been a storm around here,” Crawford remarked.
Residents have referenced the City of Houston’s bulk trash collection calendar, which indicated scheduled pickups on several dates, including October 23, November 28, and December 26. However, locals assert that no collection has occurred, and the city’s website continues to label the area with a “DELAY” status.
In addition to contacting 3-1-1, residents have sought assistance from their homeowners association to address the ongoing issue, yet they report receiving no responses.
At this time, it remains unclear why the bulk trash collection has been delayed in the Briarwick area or when the city plans to resume pickups. Attempts to reach the City of Houston’s Solid Waste Management Department for clarification on the situation have not yielded any responses as of the latest updates.
