A tattoo shop on Washington Avenue has reported a troubling escalation of harassment that culminated in a violent incident this week. The owners of Prison Break Tattoos claim that their business has faced ongoing challenges, which reached a critical point when a brick was thrown during a confrontation, shattering the shop’s front door.
The owners, Dillon and Jen Finberg, believe the individual responsible for the harassment is likely homeless, although this has not been officially verified. Dillon recounted a recent encounter on July 21, when he found himself in a dangerous situation after asking the man to leave the premises. The confrontation turned aggressive when the man picked up a brick and hurled it toward Dillon, narrowly missing him and instead breaking the glass door. The entrance has since been boarded up as repairs are arranged.
Surveillance footage captured the altercation, highlighting the severity of the situation. Jen Finberg, Dillon’s mother and co-owner of the shop, stressed that this act of violence is part of a pattern of troubling incidents involving the same individual over the past several months. These incidents have included vandalism, damage to outdoor furniture, public indecency near the storefront, and the abandonment of personal items on the property.
Despite having contacted law enforcement multiple times about these issues, the owners feel that more decisive action is necessary to prevent potential injuries. They express a dual concern: ensuring the safety of their employees, customers, and neighboring businesses while also hoping for assistance for the individual involved.
“We’re not trying to make anyone’s life harder,” the owners stated. “We just want everyone to be safe, and we hope this person gets the help they need before something worse happens.” They are also encouraging other local business owners and residents who have experienced similar issues to come forward, suggesting that the problem may extend beyond their shop.
Authorities have confirmed they are investigating the incident and are encouraging anyone with information about this or related occurrences to reach out to the Houston police.
