A 14-year-old was among two individuals apprehended last week in Hays County following a pursuit involving stolen vehicles. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office has connected these suspects to several vehicle break-ins and the theft of two cars. Meanwhile, a third suspect managed to escape on foot and is currently being sought as warrants are being prepared for their arrest.
Authorities from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the Buda Police Department responded to a burglary report in the Pepperbank Loop area of the Sunfield Subdivision at around 2:30 a.m. on January 24. Upon their arrival, they discovered multiple vehicles that had been tampered with, along with a 2025 Toyota pickup and a Hyundai sedan that were reported stolen. As law enforcement tracked the stolen vehicles, the suspects attempted to evade capture.
The Hyundai soon crashed after fleeing, while the Toyota continued on for a distance before also crashing in Austin. The driver of the Toyota was identified as the 14-year-old, and a woman was arrested alongside him during the incident. The driver of the Hyundai fled on foot but has been identified, with pending warrants for their arrest.
Another juvenile was detained at the scene but was subsequently released to a parent. A directive to apprehend this individual is also in progress. The 14-year-old faces charges that include burglary of a motor vehicle, vehicle theft, and evading arrest or detention using a vehicle. The woman involved was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and possession of marijuana.
The identities of those involved have not been disclosed, and details regarding the pending charges for the Hyundai driver were not included in the official statement.
