In a significant law enforcement operation, Terrell Police seized a substantial cache of firearms and ammunition following a traffic stop on Sunday. The incident unfolded in the early hours of May 17, when officers stopped a U-Haul truck around 1 a.m. due to a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle, 47-year-old Wesley Chapel, disclosed to the officers that he was a convicted felon and was in possession of several THC vape pens along with a firearm. A subsequent search of the U-Haul led to the recovery of 27 firearms, around 5,000 rounds of ammunition, and $4,400 in cash.
Chapel was taken into custody and is now facing multiple charges, including firearm smuggling, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance weighing less than 400 grams.
Details regarding the motive behind Chapel’s actions, as well as the total quantity of THC vape pens found, have not been disclosed by the authorities.
