Texas DPS Trooper Saves Injured Owl on I 10: A Heartwarming Rescue Story

AUSTIN, Texas – A Texas state trooper experienced a memorable day on Thursday when he came across an injured owl along Interstate 10.

Trooper Raymond Torres, while on patrol near Van Horn, discovered the owl stranded in the center median of the highway. He promptly stopped to assess the situation and provided care for the bird until representatives from Texas Parks and Wildlife could arrive on the scene.

Images released by the Texas Department of Safety depicted the owl sitting in the front passenger seat of Torres’ patrol vehicle, temporarily finding comfort while awaiting assistance.

Following the trooper’s intervention, the owl was transported to the El Paso Zoo, where it will receive necessary medical treatment.

The Texas Department of Safety highlighted the event on social media, stating, “As a trooper, you never know what each day will bring. Moments like this remind us why strong partnerships with other state agencies and the community are so important.”
