A tragic incident unfolded at Johnnie Steele Dog Park in Houston when a small dog named Bailey was killed during an attack by a larger dog. This distressing event took place last Saturday in the large dog area of the park, located along Allen Parkway.
The owner of Bailey, Tia Dosewell, recounted the horrifying moment, expressing disbelief that it would mark her dog’s last day. Witnesses reported that bystanders attempted to rescue Bailey from the jaws of the larger dog, but despite their efforts, the small dog was rushed to a veterinarian where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Corbin Neilson, a witness to the attack, described the scene as gruesome, stating, “I saw the big dog rip the small dog.” He refrained from providing explicit details but emphasized the brutality of the situation.
In a concerning turn of events, it was reported that the owner of the larger dog did not intervene during the attack and left the park promptly afterward. Dosewell managed to capture a photograph of the owner, although the image cannot be published due to the absence of any formal charges.
Tia’s daughter, Jasmine Winfrey, shared that they had frequently visited the large dog area without incident prior to this tragedy. In light of the unfortunate event, the family is urging small dog owners to utilize designated small dog areas to ensure their pets’ safety. They are also appealing to the public for any information regarding the owner of the larger dog, encouraging anyone with details to contact them at 832-736-4136.
