Festivities are ramping up in Fort Worth and its neighboring areas as Mardi Gras approaches, bringing a wave of excitement to the region. With the cold winter weather behind us, locals are eager to embrace the celebrations leading up to Fat Tuesday on February 17. Various events are set to take place, offering a mix of live music, culinary delights, and vibrant parties.
Funkytown Celebrations
Known as Fort Worth’s largest Mardi Gras celebration, the Krewe of Kowtown is set to kick off its 33rd Annual Mardi Gras Party on February 17 at Billy Bob’s Texas. The festivities will feature a blend of Louisiana-style fun and Texas blues music. Attendees can look forward to performances from founder James Hinkle and other artists, including the Blues Champs and the Claire Hinkle Band. Doors open at 6 PM, and tickets are available for $20.
Tulane’s is also getting in on the action with its Sixth Annual Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Party. Running from 3 PM to close, the event will include drink specials, tarot readings, and live music by the Fallout Boys from 8 PM to 10 PM. Entry is free for those wishing to partake in the vibrant atmosphere.
On February 20, TX Whiskey Ranch will host a Mardi Gras celebration featuring food trucks, themed cocktails, and live jazz by the Andrew Skates Trio. The event runs from 6 PM to 9 PM, and tickets are priced at $12, which includes the first cocktail. Attendees must be 21 or older.
Later in the week, Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall will continue the festivities with a Mardi Gras Mambo featuring the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and the Zydeco Cha Chas on February 22. This concert promises high-energy performances that highlight the rich musical heritage of New Orleans. Tickets start at $20.
Denton’s Unique Offerings
In Denton, Chef Suzanne Johnson is curating a special Creole-inspired beer-pairing dinner at Denton County Brewing Co. on Mardi Gras at 6:30 PM. The event will showcase a multi-course tasting menu that includes traditional dishes like fried green tomatoes and gumbo, paired with local beers. Tickets are priced at $95 per person, and festive attire is encouraged.
N. Richland Hills and Oak Cliff Events
NRH Parks Sports Bar is gearing up for the “Best Mardi Gras Party in Texas,” featuring extensive drink specials and live music from the Squeezebox Bandits. The venue will also offer a selection of crawfish and king cake alongside a unique culinary experience with an alligator being grilled over an open flame.
Oak Cliff is set to kick off its Mardi Gras celebrations with a parade on February 15, featuring colorful floats and lively music. The parade route will run along Davis Street, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best views.
Additionally, Oak Cliff Brewing Co. will host a Mardi Gras Kickoff Party & Masquerade Ball on February 13. This festive event will include live music and authentic king cake flown in from Louisiana, along with a variety of beers on tap. There is no cover charge for those wishing to attend.
