A tragic incident occurred in Montgomery County on Tuesday evening, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old Hispanic teen. Authorities were dispatched to the vicinity of Woodtrace and Highland after receiving a 911 call from friends who reported that the boy had walked into a retention pond.
Upon arrival, officials discovered that the teenager had vanished without resurfacing. An immediate search operation commenced, involving multiple law enforcement agencies and a dive team.
After an extensive search utilizing sonar technology, the boy was located. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the teen and his friends were engaged in recreational activities, riding four-wheelers in a construction area that included muddy and waterlogged sections.
In line with standard procedure for such incidents, a death investigation has been initiated, although authorities have stated that there are no signs of foul play.
As of now, officials have not disclosed the identity of the deceased teen, and the investigation remains ongoing.
