A burn ban has been implemented for the unincorporated areas of Travis County, Texas, and will remain in effect for the next 30 days due to ongoing dry conditions.
This precautionary measure is a response to the current state of dry vegetation, low humidity levels, and prevailing weather patterns that heighten the risk of wildfires. The ban is effective immediately and will only be lifted earlier if the Travis County judge or fire marshal decides to do so.
The restrictions prohibit all outdoor burning activities. However, exceptions are made for controlled burns conducted under the supervision of certified managers, as well as outdoor welding, cutting, grinding, and other hot work operations that comply with fire marshal regulations.
In light of the burn ban, the county fire marshal is advising residents to exercise heightened caution. Recommended safety measures include:
- Avoiding activities that may produce sparks.
- Exercising caution while grilling outdoors.
- Keeping a water source or fire extinguisher readily available.
- Never leaving flames unattended.
- Calling 911 immediately if witnessing a fire that appears to be out of control.
