A Weatherford ISD educator has been accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student, just days ahead of the start of the 2026-27 academic year.
Chase Liles, a 38-year-old math teacher at Weatherford High School, was arrested on August 6, charged with having an improper relationship between an educator and a student. This charge follows allegations that he exchanged inappropriate text messages with a 17-year-old student. Notably, Liles resigned from his teaching position just one day prior to his arrest on August 5.
According to the Texas Education Agency, Liles held a Texas Education Certificate effective from January 2025, which is set to expire in December 2030. His bond has been established at $50,000.
The identity of the involved student has not been disclosed. In response to the incident, Weatherford ISD emphasized its commitment to student safety, stating, “Weatherford ISD takes all reports involving student safety seriously and is committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for every student.”
Classes for the upcoming school year at Weatherford ISD are slated to commence on Wednesday, August 12.
