A suspect has been taken into custody following a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a man in Houston’s Westchase area on Thursday evening.
The altercation occurred on Walnut Bend Lane and Meadowglen Lane, where law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting and discovered a deceased individual at the scene.
Authorities were able to identify a suspect based on the description provided. The 22-year-old suspect, Muhammad Bilal, allegedly confessed to the shooting, asserting that he acted in self-defense.
According to records, Bilal has been charged with murder, although his bond has yet to be established. The confrontation reportedly began when Bilal, while reversing his vehicle, accidentally collided with the car of the victim, Daylen Perez.
After the accident, Bilal exited his vehicle to engage with Perez, who reportedly became aggressive and struck Bilal twice in the face. In response to the aggression, Bilal allegedly drew a firearm from his waistband and shot Perez.
