A woman has been arrested following an extensive investigation into mail theft, identity theft, and fraud in Austin, Texas. The local police department reported that the operation resulted in the seizure of thousands of pieces of stolen mail, hundreds of suspected stolen bank cards, and other incriminating evidence.
The investigation commenced when a warrant was issued for 42-year-old Elizabeth Rozo on August 25, linked to allegations of credit card abuse. Officers located her vehicle at an apartment complex near Tech Ridge Boulevard, where they subsequently executed a traffic stop.
During the search of Rozo’s car, authorities discovered approximately 400 suspected stolen bank cards, nearly 300 gift cards, two counterfeit “arrow keys,” which are designed to access large cluster-style mailboxes, and additional evidence related to the case. A follow-up search of Rozo’s apartment yielded further materials believed to be connected to the crimes of mail theft, identity theft, and fraud.
The items seized during the investigation included:
- About 400 suspected stolen bank cards
- Nearly 300 gift cards thought to have been acquired using stolen bank cards
- Two counterfeit arrow keys
- Seventeen stolen postal keys
- Two ounces of suspected methamphetamine
- Approximately two dozen stolen or fraudulently created identification documents
- Hundreds of stolen checks
- Thousands of pieces of stolen mail
Rozo has been arrested and charged with credit card abuse, unlawful conduct involving a mail receptacle or lock, and the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine. Authorities have indicated that additional charges may follow.

Residents are also advised to be vigilant for signs of mail theft, such as an empty mailbox when expecting important correspondence, damaged community mailboxes, or unfamiliar individuals lingering around mail areas. Any suspicious behavior should be reported without delay.
