Four pledges from a Texas State University fraternity have been arrested on hazing charges in San Marcos.
The incident unfolded on October 20, when multiple 911 calls alerted authorities to a disturbing scene. Witnesses reported seeing several men force another man into a pickup truck with his mouth taped shut, while shouting for him to be released. Responding officers located the vehicle at the Arba apartment complex on Aquarena Springs Drive, where they identified the individuals involved as members of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
It was later discovered that the individuals forcing the man into the truck were pledges, while the victim was an active member of the fraternity. The pledges claimed to police that the act was part of their initiation process into Phi Delta Theta.
Following the arrests, officials from the national fraternity expressed their commitment to cooperating with both law enforcement and the university during the ongoing investigation. In a statement, Phi Delta Theta acknowledged awareness of the situation involving members of the Texas Mu Chapter at Texas State University and emphasized their dedication to ensuring the safety of all individuals associated with the fraternity.
The fraternity reiterated its stance against any behavior that compromises the safety and well-being of individuals within their communities.
