The Dallas Cowboys have announced that country music icon Miranda Lambert will headline the halftime show during their Thanksgiving Day game against the Philadelphia Eagles on November 26. This performance marks a significant milestone as it celebrates the 30th anniversary of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show, an initiative that has raised over $3.4 billion for families in need.
Taking place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Lambert’s performance continues a beloved tradition that began in 1997 at Texas Stadium with Reba McEntire’s inaugural show during the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game. This year’s halftime show aligns with the start of The Salvation Army’s 136th Red Kettle Campaign, which has been bolstered by these nationally televised performances.
Having grown up in East Texas, Lambert expressed her excitement about performing at the Thanksgiving game, emphasizing the importance of the tradition to both the Cowboys and her home state. “There’s something special about how music brings people together, especially when it’s to spread joy and hope to families who need it most,” she said. “The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys have built an incredible tradition with the Red Kettle Kickoff, and I can’t wait to be back home in Texas this Thanksgiving to help carry it forward.”
Charlotte Jones, the chief brand officer and co-owner of the Dallas Cowboys, was instrumental in establishing the halftime show as a platform to launch The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. Her vision and advocacy have helped foster a strong partnership between the Cowboys and the charity.
Lambert’s performance will follow a roster of renowned artists who have graced the halftime stage in previous years, including Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood, the Jonas Brothers, and Dolly Parton, among others. The Cowboys’ Thanksgiving matchup against the Eagles is anticipated to be a memorable event for fans and families alike.
