A mother has claimed that she shot a man at an apartment complex out of concern for her teenage son’s safety, as reported by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on Monday evening near the intersection of Kuykendahl Road and Cypress Landing Road in northern Harris County, where deputies responded to a report of the shooting.
A 23-year-old man was taken to the hospital following the incident and is currently reported to be in fair condition.
Background details indicate that the situation escalated around 6:30 p.m. when a fight broke out involving several teenagers at the apartment complex. At that time, a parent intervened to separate the youths. Approximately two hours later, at around 8:30 p.m., a call was made to deputies regarding the shooting at the same location.
Investigators revealed that the mother of another teenager involved in the earlier altercation returned to the scene to clarify the events. During this time, the 23-year-old man reportedly arrived and created a disturbance. Concerned for her son’s safety, the mother stated that she shot at the man, hitting him once.
The sheriff’s office is currently investigating whether this shooting constituted an act of self-defense. As of now, the identities of the individuals involved have not been publicly disclosed.
