In a significant operation, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from various agencies, has confiscated over 360 pounds of methamphetamine in what is being described as one of the largest drug seizures in Louisiana’s history.
During a traffic stop in Livingston Parish on Saturday, authorities managed to seize approximately 361 pounds of meth, which is estimated to be worth nearly $4 million. In addition to the drugs, law enforcement officials recovered digital weighing scales, $7,155 in cash, and the vehicle involved in the incident, a 2017 Jaguar XE.
Two individuals were apprehended in connection with this case and have since been indicted by the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana. The suspects, Jostin Antonio Orellana-Romero, 22, and Edenilson Alexander Castaneda-Del Valle, 18, are both immigrants.
This seizure marks the largest narcotics bust in the history of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and stands as one of the most significant drug recoveries in the state of Louisiana.
The operation received support from the Splendora Police Department and the Houston Police Department’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, highlighting the collaborative efforts in combating drug trafficking in the region.
