Snow Tha Product, a former resident of Fort Worth, has shed the constraints of her past with Atlantic Records and is making waves in the rap scene with her compelling bilingual narratives that explore culture and personal experiences. This evening, she will bring her dynamic performance to Dallas as part of her national tour promoting her new album, Before I Crash Out.
Her latest work, recorded in her home studio in California, showcases a vibrant mix of catchy bilingual anthems paired with introspective and rapid-fire confessions. The album reflects on the vibrant social scenes, influential figures, and key moments that have shaped her identity as an American Latina.
With 26 tracks and a coast-to-coast tour, Snow’s approach to combating her creative burnout may seem unconventional, yet it is deeply meaningful. The tour symbolizes her resilience and determination to overcome the feelings of self-defeat that have lingered since she embraced her independence nearly a decade ago. The album has already spawned several viral hits, including the track “Sábado.”
Describing the creation of “Sábado,” Snow noted that it was crafted during a livestream session, where she and her team produced the beat from scratch. The song gained traction online even before its official release, thanks to fans who shared recordings on TikTok.
Snow’s songwriting process is instinctive; some tracks flow effortlessly while others require time and reflection. The beat for “Clase de Ingles” sat unused for two years before she found the right words to accompany it. She candidly admits that some songs, such as “No Traigo Nada,” which delves into the emotional complexities of the first-generation immigrant experience, were initially set aside because they evoked strong emotions.
Another poignant track, “Mariposa,” is dedicated to a beloved fan who has passed away, further emphasizing the deeply personal nature of her music.
Snow’s journey began with her debut album, Unorthodox, released in 2011, which garnered critical acclaim but was ultimately sidelined by Atlantic Records. Recognizing her own potential, she parted ways with the label in 2018 and established her own company, Product Entertainment. This move allowed her to regain creative control, producing music and videos independently—similar to her early days when her brother handled video production and her cousin managed merchandise.
Initially, Snow grappled with feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt, shaped by her upbringing with immigrant parents who emphasized hard work and humility. However, she and her team eventually realized they could achieve success on their terms without external validation.
Thriving outside of the traditional label system has freed Snow from the pressures of conventional expectations. Passionate about her cultural heritage, she tackles challenging topics with fervor. While independence has allowed her creative freedom, it also requires her to manage all aspects of her career, including marketing and organization. Snow embraces her attention to detail, which she believes is a unique advantage for women in the rap industry, despite her struggles with ADHD that lead her to juggle multiple projects at once.
All her efforts have borne fruit, with Snow receiving her first Latin Grammy nomination in 2021 for her collaboration on “BZRP Music Sessions #39” with Bizzarap.
Seeking personal tranquility and a deeper connection to her Mexican roots, she acquired a ranch in California, providing her with a serene environment to create. This sanctuary allows her to practice gratitude while blending her professional and personal life seamlessly.
Snow’s ties to North Texas remain significant. From 2010 to 2016, she lived in Fort Worth, where she welcomed her son. She fondly recalls the local culture and cuisine and has a history of selling her CDs at Traders Village in Grand Prairie.
“A lot of what I have now started in Fort Worth,” she reflected, noting that her journey truly began in Texas, where she developed her skills in screen printing, music video production, and recording.
Performing in North Texas on her Before I Crash Out tour feels like a homecoming for Snow. “I love all the people that have supported me from the beginning there, so it’s definitely nice to see everybody and see the original Dallas woke,” she shared.
