U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently made a significant drug seizure at a Texas border crossing, confiscating more than $1.1 million worth of cocaine. The operation took place on April 15 at the Pharr International Bridge, where officers intercepted a tractor trailer entering the U.S. from Mexico.
During the inspection of the empty trailer, authorities discovered a hidden stash of 83 pounds of cocaine concealed within the floor of the vehicle. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics amounted to $1,111,503.
The cocaine and the tractor trailer were subsequently seized by CBP officers, who played a crucial role in preventing the drugs from entering U.S. communities.
Ron Vitello, the Acting Deputy Commissioner of CBP, commented on the successful operation, stating, “Our frontline CBP officers utilized an effective combination of technological tools and inspections experience to zero-in on and interdict this significant cocaine load. These narcotics will not enter the U.S. and wreak any further havoc on our communities.”
