One individual has lost their life following a tragic multi-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 30 in Arlington early Saturday morning. Authorities suspect that intoxication may have played a role in the crash, which resulted in the westbound lanes being closed for an extended period.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Arlington Police Department. The crash involved a silver Dodge Avenger, a white passenger sedan, an unoccupied parked vehicle, and a large semi-truck.
According to preliminary investigations, the Dodge Avenger was speeding when it collided with the rear of the white sedan. This impact caused the sedan to veer off the road, crashing into a parked vehicle on the shoulder. The Dodge Avenger became disabled and came to rest across several lanes of traffic.
As the 18-wheeler traveled westbound, the driver was unable to halt in time and struck the disabled Dodge Avenger, resulting in the ejection of its passenger. Emergency responders transported both occupants of the Dodge Avenger to local hospitals, where the passenger was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The driver of the white sedan suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital, while the 18-wheeler driver escaped unscathed.
Westbound lanes of Interstate 30 were temporarily shut down to facilitate the investigation and the removal of wreckage from the scene.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been informed.
