Texas State Trooper Fatally Shoots Armed Individual During Mental Health Crisis Response in Brownsboro

A Texas State Trooper fatally shot an armed individual during a mental health crisis response in Brownsboro on Saturday afternoon, according to state law enforcement officials. The incident unfolded when the trooper encountered a person holding a firearm and ordered them to lower the weapon. When the individual did not comply and instead aimed the gun at the officer, the trooper discharged their weapon, striking the individual.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 11000 block of Ingram Street, approximately 20 miles west of Tyler. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the trooper had been called to assist local authorities regarding a report of a suicidal individual.

First responders provided immediate medical assistance at the scene, after which the individual was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital, where they were subsequently pronounced dead. No injuries were reported for the trooper or any other individuals involved in the incident.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed, and the event is currently under investigation by state authorities.
